Yes I realize it is now Fall, just bear with me okay?I took a break from blogging for personal reasons, but am ready to be back. Plus, I would hate to look back and regret not documenting our time in Ohio. We just love living here!
So as luck would have it, somehow the stars aligned and I was able to get my beautiful baby sister, Becca Boo to come live with us this summer. She was out in North Dakota doing a summer sales gig that was not panning out, despite her best efforts. Seriously saddest phone call ever as she was telling me how it was raining with 40 mph winds, absolutely no one was answering their doors due to the weather and she was huddled behind some abandoned gas station with only her light jacket on. This was one of many similar situations she endured, and apparently the people in North Dakota are not so friendly- which blows me away because Becca is the sweetest thing ever- how could anyone be mean to her? So after much hounding on my part I finally got my way and within a few days she bought a Grey Hound bus ticket and was on her way to Ohio! She bravely faced a 25 hour bus ride and in her words was the only "white female" on the bus. Many phone calls and texts transpired as I was nervous someone would see how cute she was and kidnap her! Side note- ever smelt someone who has just been on a hot sweaty bus for the past day and night? I have and it was not pretty. I immediately got that girl in a hot shower when we got home!
I moved away when this gal was only 13, I am 6 years older than she. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to live together again, seeing her only once a year for the past few years has made me sad, she has been growing and changing so much! She is a full blown woman and I am blown away by her smartness and beauty! It was so great to re establish out sisterly bond. We spent many days chatting and lounging at the pool, I didn't want her to leave! But alas, Dixe State and her beloved St. George came calling and took her away from me. I miss her and will forever be grateful for this summer, having her live with me was truly an answer to my prayers.
We showed her all around Columbus, went to Kings Island theme park, and went to Cincinnati, lucky for us the Reds were playing against our Cardinal's!
I sure love my seester!
We weren't alone for long, literally the week after Becca had gone, Tauni flew out! Apparently Ohio has a secret gem that I just learned about, it's called the Cincinnati Open. This tennis tournament it seriously so awesome, it's the last tournament prior to the US Open and is worth a lot of points, so that means all the big names come out to play- we saw Federer and Nadal play against each other, it was unreal. We also saw Azeranka and Wozniaki! It was a weekend full of tennis and I got the fix that I needed. We had so much fun we are definitely planning on going again! I'm so glad my SIL is a tennis addict like me.
Federer Vs Nadal. Such a perfect evening.
Even Jas had fun:)
We then hosted our BIL Seth who came out for his dental school interview at Ohio State (fingers crossed he gets in!) AND Jason's parents are coming out at the end of this month! I told Jas we should just open up a Bed and Breakfast! But seriously, we have loved having all these visitors, it sure makes home feel a little less far away.
Jas passed 2nd year boards! He studied so hard for that puppy and I'm so glad it paid off.
He is absolutely loooooooving his 3rd year of dental school and is rocking it in the clinic! He is a whole new man now that he is out of the classroom and that grueling study schedule and finally in the clinic seeing patients! Finally feels like dental school has really started and makes it so real for him. He was mentally checked out for the past 2 years and I am so glad to have husband back! We are so grateful for The Ohio State and this place we call home. We had a great summer!
